Description

A small tree less than 20 cm dbh. White granular stripes in the blaze.Younger leaf bearing twigs green and usually 4-angled. Leaf blades about 4-10 x 2-6 cm. Midrib raised on the upper surface. Stipules small, up to 1.5 mm long, margins hairy, but as the stipules are shed early this feature is only obvious on young expanding shoots. Small oil dots visible with a lens, mainly on the underside of the leaf blade.Petals about 5 mm long, margins fimbriate. Ovules two per locule.Fruits about 9-13 mm long, usually 5-angular or 5-lobed in transverse section. Aril at the base of the seed. Cotyledons green.
