Ipomoea fimbriosepala is a spiraling, herbaceous plant whose stems are hairless or hairy only at the nodes The leaves are stalked with 1 to 5 cm long petioles which are sometimes slightly warty. The leaf blades are heart-shaped spear-shaped to narrow arrow-shaped, 5 to 12 cm long and 1 to 6 cm wide. They are hairless, the tip pointed and thorn-pointed, from the midrib go out five to six pairs of lateral veins.
