(Costus scaber)
Costus scaber is a species of flowering plant belonging to the family Costaceae. It is native to tropical America. They are grasses that reach a size of 0.5–3 m in height. Fueyes narrowly elliptical, 10–30 cm long and 3–10 cm wide, apex acumináu, base wedge to rounded, glabrous to sparsely pubescent, marine troop and often arispian, viesu glabrous to troop and often pubescent; ligule 2 of – 12 mm long. Inflorescence ovoid to cylindrical, 4–10 (–20) cm long and 1.5–3.5 (–4.5) cm wide; bracts long-ovate, 2–3.5 cm long, obtuse, glabrous to densely pubescent, colored to mariellu-orange; bracts 9–12 mm long; speck 3–7 mm long; corolla 35–40 mm long, glabrous, orange to yellowish; tubular lip, 20–30 mm long, mariellu. Subglobose ellipsoid capsule, 7–12 mm long. Costus scaber was described by Ruiz & Pav. and published in Flora Peruviana, et Chilensis 1: 2–3, t. 3. 1798.
