(Fimbristylis quinquangularis)
Fimbristylis quinquangularis is an erect, annual or short-lived perennial, grass-like plant with fibrous roots. The stems are densely tufted, usually up to 40cm long (rarely to 120cm) and 1 - 2mm wide[266 , 451 ]. The plant is harvested from the wild for local use as a medicine. When growing as a weed in rice fields it is often ploughed back into the soil as a green manure.
