Rough Guinea flower

Description

Hibbertia aspera, commonly known as rough Guinea flower, is a small shrub that is native to Australia. It grows to 60 cm high and has yellow flowers which appear in summer. The species was first formally described in 1817 by Swiss botanist Augustin Pyramus de Candolle in Regni Vegetabilis Systema Naturale. There are two recognised subspecies: H. aspera DC. subsp. aspera H.aspera subsp. pilosifolia Toelken - described in 1998, the type specimen collected in the Atherton Tablelands Hibbertia aspera occurs on sandy soils in open forest and heath in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria.
