Euphorbia chapmanii is a phanerogama species belonging to the family Euphorbiaceae . It is endemic to Florida in the United States, generic name derived from the Greek physician of King Juba II of Mauritania (52 to 50 BC - 23 ), Euphorbus , in his honor - or in allusion to his great belly - since he medically used Euphorbia resinifera . In 1753 Carlos Linnaeus assigned the name to the whole genre. epithet given in honor of the botanist Alvin Wentworth Chapman (1809 - 1899), American author of a flora of the South of the United States.
