(Haloragis)
Haloragis is a genus of plants belonging to the family Haloragaceae . It comprises 130 species described and of these, only 3 accepted and a large number of species pending classification. Some species are commonly known as seaberry and most are native to the southern hemisphere . It is herbal perennial or annual or small shrubs , and many wetland plants are terrestrial. One of the best known species is the New Zealand native Haloragis erecta , which is grown as an ornamental plant . The genus was described by JRForst & G.Forst and published in Characteres Generum Plantarum 61-62, pl. 31. 1775. The type species is: Haloragis prostrata JR Forst. & G. Forst.
