Description

Babiana fragrans is a species of plant flowering plant belonging to the family Iridaceae It is an endemism of the Cape Province in South Africa.It is a plant with leaves of 5-6 cm, with a petiole 2-4 cm long; fragrant flowers, arranged in a simple or bifurcated spike usually shorter than the leaves; with peduncle and scalp; spathe outer oblong-lanceolate, hairy; perianth lilac or red, with a tube that equals spathe and uneven oblong-unguiculate segments; stamens with half as long as the perianth of the extremities; flattened branches at the tip
