“Pet poisonous” – Toxic parts: Leaves The water ribbon ( Triglochin barrelieri ) is a species of reed in the family of the juncagináceas. Rizomatous perennial herb, with thick, bulbous rhizome , surrounded by dark fibers, with one or several stems with all the leaves at the base ( escapes ). Escapes up to 40 (-55) cm, simple. Simple, seated, numerous leaves; external ones reduced to a membranous scabbard; the internal ones of up to 35 mm, with a scabbard that surrounds the escape and limbus scarcely differentiated from the sheath, linear, up to 3 mm wide. Hermaphrodite , actinomorphic, trimeric flowers, arranged at the end of the escapes to form dense clusters in flowering and up to 15 cm and lax in fruiting, with pedicel 3-6.5 mm in fruiting, straight, erect. Perianth with 6 pieces ( tépalos)) green, 3 external and somewhat longer than the 3 internal ones, of 2-3 mm; ovate, deciduous. Androceo with 6 stamens . Ovary superior with 6 welded carpels , 3 fertile and 3 sterile. Fruit formed by 3 follicles of 6-10 mm, cylindrical-ellipsoid, separated at maturity, with one seed each. It blooms and fructifies in spring.
