Betonica hirsuta

(Betonica hirsuta)

galery

Description

This species is found in the meadows and pastures of the Alps and Central Pyrenees. The leaves are crenate, oval-elongated, a little heart at the base. The stem is bristling with long hairs often yellow. The flowers are grouped in a dense, sometimes interrupted spike. The upper lip of the corolla is slightly out of the stamens. A confusion is possible with Betonica officinalis Linnaeus whose stem is more or less hairy but not bristling with long yellow hairs and whose upper lip of the corolla exceeds longer the stamens.
