Description

Tree to 35 m high;bark often persistent on lower trunk (short stocking only),grey to grey-brown,fibrous-flaky,smooth white,cream,grey or brown above,shedding in short ribbons or plates. Juvenile leaves disjunct,ovate,glossy dark green. Adult leaves disjunct,lanceolate or broad-lanceolate,8–14 cm long,2–3.5 cm wide,dark green,dull,discolorous,penniveined.Umbellasters 7-flowered;peduncle narrowly flattened or angular,7–14 mm long;pedicels terete,2–5 mm long.Buds clavate or pyriform,6–8 mm long,3–5 mm diam.,scar present;calyptra hemispherical (minutely apiculate),shorter than and as wide as hypanthium. Fruit cylindrical or campanulate,5–7 mm long,4–6 mm diam.;disc depressed,1–2 mm wide;valves rim-level or exserted,raised at 60–80° or vertically raised.
