Description

Syringa x hyacinthiflora, commonly known as American lilac, is a shrub with single or double flowers. Syringa x hyacinthiflora is a species in the genus Syringa which contains approximately 30 to 43 species and belongs to the family of the Oleaceae (Olive Family). Syringa x hyacinthiflora is deciduous. The simple leaves are opposite. They are cordate, entire and petiolate. They turn an attractive dark red in autumn. Syringa x hyacinthiflora produces panicles of salverform flowers from April to May. The shrubs produce loculicidal capsules.
