Description

Catasetum fimbriatum is a species of epiphytic orchid , native to South America. It is a species of large orchid that prefers warm climate, it is epiphytic with pseudobulbs with conical- fusiform shape , surrounded by several pods of the leaves of support that carry several leaves oblong-ligulate, submembranous and sharp. It blooms in spring and summer in a basal hanging inflorescence , 45 cm long, racemose, arising from a mature pseudobulb and having 7-15 very fragrant, fleshy flowers. It is found in Guyana , Venezuela , Bolivia , Brazil , Paraguay and Argentina , in dry lowland regions on the trunks of palm trees , at altitudes of 400 to 500 meters .
