Description

Corydalis scouleri grows as a perennial herbaceous plant . A thick fleshy rhizome is formed as a persistence organ, from which grow one or several 50 to 100 centimeter long, upright stems . Each stem contains only three leaves , three-pinnate, ten centimeters long and broad. The leaflets are 1 to 8 centimeters long and 0.5 to 4 centimeters wide. Overall, the delicate leaves like fern fronds. The flowering period is from mid-April to mid-June. The lateral or terminal, simple traubige or sparsely branched panicles inflorescence contains up to 35 2 to 5 mm long stemmed flowers up to 15 -. The hermetic flowers are zygomorphic and quadruple. The two sepals are 1 to 2 mm long. The four bright to dark pink petals are 20 to 25 mm long. The spur is 14 to 20 mm long. The six stamens form two bundles.The capsule fruit is egg-shaped with a length of 1 to 1.5 centimeters and a diameter of 0.4 to 0.5 centimeters. The black seeds have a diameter of about 3.5 millimeters and numerous small bumps. The fruits mature between the middle of May and the end of June. The chromosome number is 2n = about 130.
