Description

Hypecoum is a genus with 35 described species, of which 13 are accepted, 1 of plants belonging to the Fumarioideae subfamily of theancient Fumariaceae family. It is the only member of the Hypecoeae tribe. They are low annual herbs , glabrous, often glaucous with watery sap . Stem erect or ascending or prostrate. Leaves 2-4-pinnatisectas or separated; lobes obovate to linear ends, with radicals more divided than caulinares. Inflorescence in top dicasial. Flowers of yellow, white or purple. Sepals 2, deciduous, free, ovate to lanceolate. Petals 4, in 2 series, two outer lobed or whole, obovate and obtuse, 2 concave interior trilobulates with medium lobe. Stamens 4, free, opposite the petals. Linear fruit, with many seeds compressed, without aril .
