Description

Avenella flexuosa, in French Canche flexuzzue, Mountain canche, Deschampsie flexuzzue 2 or Tortuous hay 3, is a species of flowering plant in the family Poaceaeand genus Avenella. The species was first described by the Swedish naturalist Carl von Linné in 1753, who placed it in the genus Aira under the basionym Aira flexuosa. It was moved to the genus Deschampsia by Carl Bernhard von Trinius in 1836. Solomon Thomas Nicolai Drejer reclassified it in 1838 in the genus Avenella under the correct name Avenella flexuosa 1,9.
