Description

This woody bamboo is endemic to West Sichuan, in China (Clayton et al. 2002, Dezhu et al. 2006). It is reported from the Liangshan Mountains in a study area covering part of six counties (Qi et al. 2009), Yele Natural Reserve (Wei et al. 2000), Xiangling mountains (Carter et al.1999) and Tachien-lu (Keng 1936). Bystriakova et al. (2003) estimate that, based on taxonomic and floristic literature and data on forest cover, between 501 and 1,000 km2 of forest remains within the range of this species.
