Description

Calligonum is a genus of plants in the Polygonaceae familywith around 80 species around the Mediterranean , Asia and North America. The plants of the genus Calligonum are shrubs, with diffuse and irregular branches, flexible and woody. Leaves simple, opposite, almost sessile, linear and almost scaly. Bisexual flowers, solitary in loose axillary inflorescences. Calligonum was described by Carlos Linneo and published in Species Plantarum 1: 530. 1753. 2 The type species is: Calligonum polygonoides L
