Description

Clematis columbiana, called clematis de les roques, is a plant of the genus clematis. Distribute throughout western North America, ranging from British Columbia to Oregon, Wyoming to Dakota. It is a climbing or creeping perennial vine that can grow up to 3 m. The bellows are trilobed with serrated marxes. The solitary, umbrella-shaped flowers have 4 violet to blue tepals. The fruit is an aqueniu plumosu. The variety Clematis columbiana var. tenuiloba can be found in mountains up to 2,500 meters above sea level, whereas C. columbiana var. columbiana only grows on lowlands.
