Description

“Pet poisonous” – Toxic parts: entire plant esp. leaves Perennial, pilose with appressed or spreading hairs. Leaves with lamina ovate to elliptic, 1–4 cm long, simple and toothed or once or twice ternately dissected or lobed; petiole mostly 3–20 cm long. Flowers mostly 15–25 mm diam. Petals 5, rarely to 8, 6–20 mm long, 5–14 mm wide. Achenes 2–3.5 mm long, the sides smooth; beak stout or slender, 0.7–1 mm long, arching or strongly recurved with a recoiled tip. Carpels sometimes blackish, giving a dark centre to the flower.
