Description

Xanthorhiza simplicissima, is the only member of the genus Xanthorhiza, and one of the few genera in the family Ranunculaceae with tarmu woodrizu (the other notable example of this is Clematis). It is native to the eastern United States from Maine south to northern Florida and western Ohio and eastern Texas. The name of the xéneru, following the common name, refers to the plant of raigaños mariellos (xantho-meaning "mariellu" and rhiza meaning "raigañu") that was used to produce a color mariellu dye by Native Americans. The name of the species refers to the simple non-branched raigañu. In the middle of the mountains, songs grow from the streams in sandy soil under a canopy of plants that cover the sunlight.
