Description

Annual,erect herb,8-20 cm long,subtrichotomously branched,whole plant glabrous except bracts;branchlets filiform.Leaves generally in 6-whorls,sessile,1-nerved,membranous,minutely scabridulous at margins,8-16 x 1.5-2.5 mm,elliptic,spathulate or spathulate-linear.Inflorescence terminal and axillary,5-9-flowered heads;peduncles setose.Bracts leafy,unequal,setose,longer than flowers.Flowers pale or whitish,red,2-4 (-5) mm long.Corolla-tube infundibuliform,c.2.5 mm long;lobes ovate,c.1 mm long.Mericarps subglobose,c.1.25 mm in diameter,with persistent setose bracts.
