(Salix pyrifolia)
The pear leaf Willow is a spreading bush with sheets only at the top and generally up to 1 to 2 meters . The leaves are 5 to 8 cm long and 25 to 40 mm wide and have a balsamic odor (hence the name Balsam willow ). They are ovate or ovate-lanceolate, broad, rounded at the base, strongly reticulate . The flowers appear with the leaves in spring. The place of predilection corresponds to a medium of peat bogs or very acidic rocks in general. This species is sometimes confused with Salix discolor .
