Description

Saxifraga fragilis is a species of plant belonging to the family Saxifragaceae . It is a perennial plant, laxly pulvinular, glabrous, viscous, with numerous immersed glands that confer balsamic odor in summer. Flowering stems up to 25 cm, terminal, erect. Basal leaves (10) 15-40 (50) x (4) 9-20 (25) mm, ± coriaceous, glabrous; contour sheet between cuneate-flabby and circular, slightly thickened margin, with (3) 5-11 (19) lobes or parts -the central (2) 4-13 (7) x (0.5) 1-1, 5 (2.5) mm, integer or trifid-, from linear-elliptical to obovate, obtuse or acute, divergent, without groove; petiole clearly differentiated, of length usually 1-3 times greater than that of the lamina, of c. 1 mm wide in the middle part, with a grooved longitudinal groove in the beam; leaves of floriferous stems (0) 1-2 (4), with 1-5 (7) lobes or parts. Inflorescence in ovoid or corymbiform panicle, with (5) 10-15 (20) flowers; bracts generally divided into 3 lobes or parts; foot of the inflorescence of length 1-4 times greater than that of this one.Hipanto covered with sessile glands. Sepals (1) 2-4 mm, from linear-elliptical to linear-ovate, subacute or acute. Petals (4) 6-8 (10) x (2) 3-4 (5) mm, obovate-spatulate, ± imbricate, white. Ovary almost inferior. Globose fruit - sometimes ovoid -. Seeds 0.4-0.75 x 0.2-0.45 mm, with micropapilas and, often, also macropapilas.
