Yellow Saxifrage

(Saxifraga sibthorpii)

galery

Description

An unassuming annual very close to S. cymbalaria. The flowers are, however, a little larger and richer coloured, orange-yellow with petals 5-7mm long. The sepals are deflexed rather than spreading when the flowers are fully open. Greece, on damp shady rocks usually above 1500m. Not thought to be in cultivation at the present time as S. cymbalaria subsp. huetiana often assumes its name. Presumably an easy plant to grow in a damp corner.
