Description

Physalis angulata is a plant type from the genus of jujubes ( Physalis ) in the family of the nightshade family (Solanaceae). It is the most common and widespread species of bubble cherries. Physalis angulata is a creeping or upright growing herbaceous plant with a height of up to 1 m. The shoot axis is edged and hairless except for fine, fitting trichomes on the young shoots. The up to 10 cm long leaves are ovate or elliptic, pointed at the top or tapering, the base is tapered and often oblique. The margins are ganzrandig, wavy, serrated or irregular cut. The petioles have about 1/3 to 1/2 the length of the leaf blade. The flowers are on 5 to 12 mm long pedicels, which are finely occupied with upward trichomes . The calyx is at the time of flowering 3 to 5 mm long, 2 to 4 mm in diameter and hairless except for the edges and tips of the broadly pointed lobes. The crown is 4 to 10 mm long, soon turns backwards. The stamens are sometimes unevenly long, the stamens are slender, the 2 to 2.5 mm long dust bag are bluish, sometimes yellowish, in old age they dry or curve. The fruits are 10 to 12 mm large, spherical berries , which stand on 10 to 25 mm long stems, the calyx increases to 20 to 30 mm, is tenkantig or drehrund and encloses the fruit completely. The chromosome number is 2n = 48.
