Description

Lycium europaeum is a species of shrub in the Solanaceae family, native to the Mediterranean region. It is a shrub of hedge or shrub that reaches 5 meters high. It has thorny branches and leaves that are elongated, whole and somewhat thick. The flowers of pink or violet, have a cup bell and a crown with five lobes. The fruit is a red or orange fleshy globular berry . It is used as a diuretic and hypotensive. Externally it is used in the treatment of ulcers . In ancient times it was called spina benedicta because the relics of the crown of Christ that are kept in Rome are from Lycia .
