(Bryum pallescens)
Plants 1-5 cm high, multiply branched (autocratic) or schopy (syncytic form), growing individually or in loose lawns. Leaves taut, protruding at a slight angle, dry and slightly twisted. Rhizoids reddish-brown, coarse to fine, papillous. Leaves ovate-lanceolate, rigid and strong, long and tapering. Leaf-ground red, not descending. Leaf edge rolled. Rib wide, often perforated. Cells in the middle of the leaf 50 x 15-18 -m, uniformly net-like, on the margin 2-6 rows of narrow, thick-walled cells.
