Hurricane Florence dumped 13 trillion gallons of water on the Carolinas

10-08-2018

Today’s Video of the Day from the U.S. Geological Survey shows the aftermath of Hurricane Florence, which dumped 13 trillion gallons of water across the Carolinas.

Many of the record-breaking impacts of the storm emerged days to weeks after the hurricane made landfall.

In Conway, South Carolina, the most severe flooding was experienced nearly two weeks after the storm first hit. Florence not only refilled a lake that had been drained in Conway, but also created a new pond across from the lake and overflowed two rivers.
