Description

The lutung or Phayre langur ( Trachypithecus phayrei ),is a species of primate catarrhine belonging to the Cercopithecidae family that lives in Southeast Asia.The specific name was put in honor of Arthur Purves Phayre.Its range includes Bangladesh,eastern India,Burma,southern China,northern half of Thailand,Laos and Vietnam.It is mainly arboreal and feeds on leaves of a large number of species.A study conducted in Tripura India,found that the main species are Albizzia procera,Melocanna bambusoides,Callicarpa arborea,Dillenia pentagyna,Litsea sp.,Albizzia lebbek,Mikania scandens,Gmelina arborea,Artocarpus chaplasha,Syzygium fruticosum,Ficus fistulosa,Ficus racemosa,Ficus hispida,Ficus indica.Macaranga denticulata and Albizzia stipulata.
