Description

The Iberian frog ( Iberian Frog Boulenger,1879 ) is an amphibious anuran belonging to the family of Ranidae The Iberian frog is a relatively small-sized brown frog (usually only 4-5 cm long) and a delicate structure with a short,rounded snout and long legs.The heel of the hind leg extended forward along the hips goes beyond the tip of the snout.The eardrum,included in the dark brown temporal spot,is relatively small and indistinct.The upper parts are relatively smooth,apart from some single glands scattered on the skin and the two dorsal-lateral folds,well spaced from each other.The color is variable,light brown or dark but also reddish,olive or gray.Often the upper parts are scattered with small black or whitish spots,such as "covered with mold».The belly is white with dark spots,the throat typically with dark streaks and a clear central line;however,even animals without the central line and with a clear throat,almost without spots,can be found.Males do not have external vocal pockets.The length is 3-5 cm in males and 4-6 cm in females
