Petalothyrsa microphthalma

Description

Petalothyrsa microphthalma is a moth in the Depressariidae family, and the only species in the genus Petalothyrsa. It was described by Meyrick in 1931. It is found in Brazil. The wingspan is about 8 mm. The forewings are whitish closely speckled brown with slight dark fuscous marks on the costa at the base and one-fifth and a rather broad direct brown median fascia, anteriorly mixed blackish on the costa and on the dorsal half, towards the dorsum these scales are rough and form a projecting teeth. There is a black discal dot ringed white just beyond this and the posterior half is irregularly suffused brownish on the dorsal half with some irregular black scales posteriorly. The hindwings are grey, thinly scaled and subhyaline in the disc anteriorly.
