Description

Parapelophryne scalpta is a frog from the family toads (Bufonidae). The species was scientifically described for the first time by Cheng-chao Liu and Shu-qin Hu in 1973.Originally,the scientific name Nectophryne scalptus was used.It is the only species from the monotypic genus Parapelophryne. Parapelophryne scalpta is found in parts of Asia and is endemic in the People's Republic of China.The frog only occurs on the Chinese island of Hainan
