(Cabassous chacoensis)
The soft-tailed armadillo of the Chaco ( Cabassous chacoensis ) is a species of armadillo found in the Gran Chaco, between Bolivia,Paraguay,Argentina and probably also Brazil. It colonizes a wide range of habitats, from prairies to river banks. It measures about half a meter in length.Like congeners,it resembles a giant miniature armadillo;unlike the latter, however, presents the defensive plates on the tail very small and spaced, hence the name of soft-tailed armadillo or naked tail. No nests have ever been observed.
