Description

The zebra of Grevy ( Equus grevyi ),sometimes known as the imperial zebra,is a mammal of the family of Equidae. It takes its name from Jules Grévy,president of France : it was the government of Abyssinia,in the 80s of the nineteenth century,to want to dedicate the name of the animal.The Grévy zebra,in many ways,resembles the donkey,while the other zebra species are easier to approach the horse.It is the largest zebra species.High 1.25-1.6 meters at the withers,it is 2.5-3 meters long from head to tail,with the latter measuring between 38 and 75 centimeters.The males weigh between 380 and 450 kilograms,the females between 350 and 400.It is among the different species,the one with the larger ears and the streaks closer to each other.Equus grevyi var.Faurei is a Somali variety of Equus grevyi characterized by white hairs on the tail.
