Description

The Grandidier mongoose or giant striped mongoose (Galidictis grandidieri Wozencraft,1986) is a small carnivore of the Eupleridae family,endemic to Madagascar.The species is named after the naturalist Alfred Grandidier.Weighing between 500 to 600 g,it has a fur light brown or grayish,with eight in width dark stripes on its back and sides.The Grandidier mongoose is larger than the congener mongoose of broad- banded Malagasy (G.fasciata),but its stripes are not wider.
