Huon tree kangaroo

Description

The arboreal kangaroo Matschie ( Dendrolagus matschiei Förster and Rothschild,1907 ),also known as arboreal kangaroo Huon is a mammal of the order of Dipotodonti and belongs to the family of Macropodidae,which comprises about 55 species of kangaroo,wallaby and their relatives.It also belongs to the genus Dendrolagus,which includes about 10 species of arboreal kangaroos.This species lives in the Huon Peninsula,in northeastern New Guinea.According to the IUCN classification,it is oneendangered species.The scientific name commemorates the German biologist Paul Matschie.
