Description

The golagialla Altamira ( Geothlypis flavovelata Ridgway,1896 ) is a bird of the family of Parulidi native of Mexico East.This colorful species diffused only in Mexico,about 12 cm long,is distinguished above all by its characteristic yellow plumage.The upper regions and wings of the Altamira golagialla are olive-yellow,while the crown and the lower regions are bright yellow.The male has a showy black "mask" that covers the face,while the female has no mask,but has a yellow face with olive ear covers.Both the male and the female have a black beak and pink legs Altamira's golagialla is similar in appearance to the common golagialla ( Geothlypis trichas ).However,the common golagial has larger dimensions,and its black facial mask has a gray border.
