Description

The woylie ( Bettongia penicillata Gray,1837 ),also known as brush-tailed bettongia,is a small marsupial (30 cm long) belonging to the Potoroid family. Once its area covered more than 60% of the Australian continent,but today it covers less than 1%.He has rigidly nocturnal habits and is not gregarious.During the day it rests in well-made and hidden nests,built with grass and pieces of bark.It feeds on bulbs,tubers and fungi that it gives birth by digging in the ground with its strong front legs.It inhabits temperate forests and woodlands,as well as spots arid and grasslands.
