Description

The Petrel Juan Fernandez ( Pterodroma externa ),also called petrel Juan Fernandez,Juan Fernández petrel or Petrel white collar,is a species of bird procelariforme the family of proceláridos (Procellariidae).It is reproduced only on the island of Alejandro Selkirk,a small island in Chile that is part of the Juan Fernández archipelago.It is threatened by predation by introduced species ( cats and rats ) and to a lesser extent by the loss of habitat by introduced herbivores ( goats ).The IUCN Red List lists this species as Vulnerable because of its endemic condition and the threats of introduced predators.
