Description

General color green,gray periophthalmic ring,red reins,bluish nape,violet throat and breast,of a color very close to that of red wine (hence the common name),red wing mirror,blue and black remiges,purple beak hanging and yellowish gray at the tip,red iris,has a size around 30 cm.It has no sexual dimorphism,while the immature individuals are identified by the paler colors,the green streaked chest and the brown iris.
