Description

It is about 40 cm long.It has a powerful black beak,a long tail and a basic green plumage.The upper face of the remiges and primary coverts is blue,as the common name indicates.The lower face of the wings is yellowish,the tip of the tail,the crown and the cheeks are bluish and the base of the tail and a stain on the belly are red.The iris is amber.Together with the ara belly red it is the only species of ara to have glabrous skin on the yellowish face,which often turns white in captive specimens.Unlike the red-bellied ara,however,the ara aliblu has the lower parts of the red abdomen and back
