Description

The schiribilla grigiata (Porzana pusilla Pallas,1776) is a bird belonging to the Rallidi family,occupying a vast range,including Eurasia,Africa and Australasia.The schiribilla grigiata measures 17-19 cm in length,has a wingspan of 33-37 cm and weighs 40-50 g.The upper regions are reddish-brown and marked by small strips on the back and wing coverts.The sides are streaked with black and white,the legs are grayish or light colored.The beak is green,with no red spots at the base.The male has a slate-gray or bluish throat,face and chest,and black-and-white streaky sub-slavals.The young specimens resemble the females,but they do not yet have the gray color of the adults,they have a white throat and the neck is stained with brown.
