Sapphire-bellied hummingbird

Description

The male reaches a length between 8.9 to 9.4 cm and an average weight of 4.3 g.It has a straight peak of 1.8 cm.The upper peak is black,the lower jaw is pink with a black tip.The forehead,crown,nape and back are bluish-green,the lower part deep blue.The throat is iridescent purple.The blue-black tail is deeply bifurcated.The females presents the upper part of bright green color;the tail is green-black on the front and gray on the back;the belly is mottled gray;The chest and flanks are bright blue.
