The sharpnose shiner (Notropis oxyrhynchus) is a species of ray-finned fish in the family Cyprinidae, the carps and minnows. It is endemic to Texas in the United States, where it is limited to the upper Brazos River basin. In 2013 it became a candidate for federal listing as an endangered species of the United States. Naturally found in the Red River drainage, when a tributary to the Brazos River was captured into the Red River drainage (Conner and Suttkus 1986, Cross et al. 1986). Introduced in the Colorado River.
