Aphelandra scabra is an auxiliary plant species first described by Vahl , and now became known as James Edward Smith . Aphelandra scabra is included in the genus Aphelandra and the family akantus plants . In addition to the nominal form, there is also the subspecies A. s. Angustifolia .
