Description

Echinocereus viereckii is a species in the family Cactaceae. It is endemic to Nuevo Leon and Tamaulipas in Mexico. It is a common species that has spread throughout the world. Species with a columnar aspect, with erect or prostrate growth. It branches from the base forming dense clumps up to 30 cm tall with bright green stems up to 20 cm long and 4-4.5 cm in diameter. It has 6 to 9 tuberculate gossips. The areoles have 7-9 straw-yellow radial spines that are no more than 2. cm long. The funnel -shaped flowers are up to 10 cm in diameter and magenta in color. Echinocereus viereckii was described by Erich Werdermann and published in Kakteenkunde 1934: 188 1934.
