Description

Echinomastus intertextus, is a phanerogam species belonging to the Cactaceae family. They are distributed throughout North America. It is a solitary plant, with a spherical and slightly cylindrical stem, which is hidden by the thorns and can reach 4 to 7.5 centimeters in height and 5 to 15 centimeters in diameter. It has 11 to 13 ribs. It has 4 central pink or gray spines, 1.2 to 4 centimeters long. The first three are pointing up. The 13 to 25 radial spines are curved and white in color and measure from 0.9 to 2 centimeters. The flowers are broad, funnel-shaped, pink or white, 2 to 3 centimeters long and 2.5 to 3 centimeters in diameter. The fruits are green and spherical. Echinomastus intertextus in the United States in the states of Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas, and in Mexico in the states of Sonora, Chihuahua, and Coahuila. Echinomastus intertextus was described by (Engelm.) Britton & Rose and published in The Cactaceae; descriptions and illustrations of plants of the cactus family 3: 149, in the year 1922.
