Description

The generic name ( Phyteuma ), used for the first time by Dioscorides (Anazarbe, about 40 - about 90), ancient Greek doctor, botanist and pharmacist who practiced in Rome at the time of Emperor Nero , derives from the Greek word "phyto" (= plant) and means: "what is planted", while the specific name ( betonicifolium ) means "with betonica leaves" (Betonica or Stachys is a genus of plants of the Lamiaceae family ). The scientific name of this plant has been defined for the first time by the French botanistDominique Villars (1745-1814) in the publication "Histoire des Plantes de Dauphiné: contenant une Préface Storico, UN Dictionnaire des Termes de Botanique, les Classes, les Familles, les Generi, and les Herborations des Dintorni de Grenoble, de la Grande Chartreuse, de Briançon, de Gap & de Montelimar, Paris - 2: 518, t. 12. 1787 " of 1787.
