Description

The generic name ( Phyteuma ), used for the first time by Dioscorides (Anazarbe, about 40 - about 90), ancient Greek doctor, botanist and pharmacist who practiced in Rome at the time of Emperor Nero , derives from the Greek word "phyto" (= plant) and means: "what is planted", while the specific name ( betonicifolium ) means "with betonica leaves" (Betonica or Stachys is a genus of plants of the Lamiaceae family ).
