Description

Crassula tecta is a species of plant from the succulent family (Crassulaceae). The specific epithet tecta comes from the Latin, meaning 'covered' and refers to the leaves covered with papillae. The dwarf-growing plants that form small clumps stand alone or have only a few branches. They grow to 5 × 6 centimeters with the leaves standing in basal rosettes. They have a fibrous root and form short shoots with a diameter of 5 millimeters. The ovate to ovate-lanceolate leaves are 10 to 25 millimeters long and 3 to 10 millimeters wide. Old leaves are persistent and the leaf blade is rather flat. The grey-green epidermis is covered with short, stiff tubercles. The surface is flat, slightly concave near the base, the underside is convex and obtuse towards the apex. The inflorescence consists of elongated and globose thyrses. The inflorescence stalk is covered with individual papillae and is up to 12 centimeters long. The tubular corolla is up to 5 millimeters long. The oblong oblanceolate, white to cream-colored petals are fused at the base and have an indistinct dorsal appendage at the top. The stamens are yellow.
